Know Exactly Which Ad Made Your Phone Ring
Marketing Tracking and Attribution for Auto Repair Shops
Most shops pay for marketing and guess at what worked. Guessing is the most expensive thing you can do with an ad budget.
Ask most shop owners where last month's new customers came from. You get a shrug. "Word of mouth, mostly." "The Google thing, I think."
That is not their fault. Nobody ever set up the tracking. So calls come in, bays fill, invoices go out, and no one can say which dollar did the work.
Here is what that costs you. When you cannot tell a good channel from a bad one, you keep paying for both. Then you cut the wrong one.
We fix that before we spend a dollar of your ad budget.
OUR QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO ANSWER
Pull out your phone. Try to answer these about your own shop, for last month.

1. How many people called the shop?
2. How many of those calls were new customers, not regulars?
3. What sent them? Google Ads, Maps, Facebook, your website, or a sign on the road.
4. How many calls rang and nobody picked up?
Most shop owners cannot answer one of the four. Not because they are bad operators. Because nothing in the shop is set up to tell them.
Everyone of those answers should take you about ten seconds to find.
TWHY GUESSING COSTS MORE THAN YOU THINK
Say you spend $1,500 a month across two channels.
One of them brings in calls at $12 apiece. The other brings them in at $60. Same money, five times the difference.
On your bank statement, those two channels look identical. Both just say "marketing." So you have no reason to move money from the bad one to the good one. You keep funding both.
That is the leak. Not wasted clicks. Wasted decisions.
And it gets worse the longer it runs:
You cancel the channel that was quietly working, because it was the one you happened to notice.
You keep the channel that produced nothing, because a vendor showed you a chart full of impressions.
You never find out your front desk missed 40 calls, because nobody counted them.
None of that shows up as a line item. It shows up as empty bays on a Tuesday.
WHAT WE TRACK, AND WHAT EACH PART DOES
Tracking is not one tool. It is four jobs that have to work together. Here is each one, and where to read more.
1. Call tracking and call recording
Every ad, every listing, and your website each get their own phone number. All of them forward to your regular shop line. Your customer never notices.
But now you know: this call came from Google Ads. That one came from your Maps listing. That one came from the sign.
We also record the calls. Not to spy on your writers. To find out how many callers were ready to book and did not get booked.
2. Conversion tracking in your ad accounts
This is the part almost every shop gets wrong.
Most ad accounts count the wrong thing. They count clicks, or page views, or somebody landing on your contact page. None of those are a repair order.
We set your accounts to count what actually matters: calls over 60 seconds, booked appointments, form fills from real people. Then Google's system starts hunting for more of the people who do that, instead of more people who click and leave.
3. Attribution and your reporting dashboard
Real customers do not take a straight path. A driver sees your ad on Facebook, forgets about it, Googles your shop two weeks later, then calls.
Which channel gets the credit? If you only look at the last click, Facebook gets nothing and you cancel it.
Attribution is how we sort that out. Your dashboard shows the whole path, not just the last step.
4. Missed calls and how fast you answer
This one stings, so most agencies leave it out of the report.
We count the calls that rang and went nowhere. We count how long it took to call back the ones you missed. Then we put a dollar figure on it, using your own average repair order.
It is usually the fastest money in the building. You already paid to make that phone ring.
THIS IS NOT AN ADD-ON. IT IS THE FIRST THING WE BUILD

Some agencies sell reporting as an upgrade. We do not, and the reason is simple.
If we cannot show you the number, we have not earned the check.
Tracking goes in during week one, before any campaign turns on. That way there is no "before we started measuring" gap in your data, and no argument later about what the marketing actually did.
us honest. When every call is traced back to a source, we cannot hide a channel that is not working. Neither can you. That is the point.
This is one of the three promises in our guarantee. You see every dollar, every call, every week.
THE NUMBERS, NOT THE PROMISES
We sell math, not adjectives. Tracking is what makes the math possible.
Freedom Tire, an independent tire and auto repair shop, has more than 7,700 tracked conversions on record across three-plus years. Not estimates. Tracked, one at a time, back to the campaign that caused them. Their cost per lead dropped 62%, and it fell every single year for four straight years.
You cannot drive a number down four years running if you cannot see it.
Two more, with the shops kept anonymous:
An independent European auto repair shop in the Inland Empire now gets three times the leads on the same monthly budget, with cost per conversion down 65%.
A Southern California RV service and paint operation cut its cost per lead by 79%.
Every one of those improvements started the same way. Somebody finally measured the baseline.
Your marketing should compound like equity, not burn like ad spend.
THE DATA IS YOURS. SO ARE THE ACCOUNTS.
A lot of shop owners have been burned here, so we will be direct about it.
Your tracking numbers, your ad accounts, your analytics, and your call history are all set up in your name. Not ours.
If you ever leave, you take all of it with you, history included. Nobody hands you a blank slate and tells you to start over.
We built it that way because we watched shop owners get held hostage by vendors who owned their data. That is not a business we want to be in.
HOW THIS CONNECTS TO EVERYTHING ELSE
Tracking is the dashboard. It does not drive the car. It tells you which parts of the engine are pulling their weight.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will my customers know they are calling a tracking number?
No. The number forwards straight to your shop line and rings the same phone it always did. Your team answers it the same way. Nothing changes on your end except that you can now see where the call came from.
Do I have to change the phone number on my building and my trucks?
No. Your main number stays your main number. Tracking numbers only go on ads, listings, and web pages, where we control what gets shown. Your signage, your business cards, and your Google listing keep the number your regulars already know.
Is this just Google Analytics?
No. Analytics tells you about website visitors. It cannot tell you who called, what they wanted, or whether anybody picked up. For a repair shop, the phone is where the money is, so that is where the tracking has to be.
Can you track a customer who saw a Facebook ad and called two weeks later?
Yes, and that is exactly what attribution is for. If you only count the last click, that customer looks like they came from nowhere and Facebook looks like a waste. We show the full path so you do not cut a channel that was actually working.
Why record the calls? My guys are fine.
Most are. But the recordings usually turn up a pattern nobody knew about, like callers who ask about a service and get told to call back later, or a phone that rings six times at lunch. You cannot fix what you cannot hear. We are looking for the pattern, not for someone to blame.
Can you tie a phone call to an actual repair order?
In most cases, yes. We match tracked calls against booked jobs so you can see revenue by channel, not just call counts. How closely we can match depends on your shop management software, and we will tell you straight what is possible with the system you already run.
Do I own the tracking data if we part ways?
Yes. Every account is built in your name, and the full history goes with you. No hostage tactics, no starting over from zero.
Do I need tracking if I only run one channel?
Yes, and here is the honest reason. With one channel you still cannot tell a good month from a lucky one, and you still have no idea how many calls you are missing. One channel makes tracking simpler, not less necessary.
Stop guessing where your customers come from
Right now you are almost certainly paying for something that is not working, and underfunding something that is. Without tracking, there is no way to know which is which.
We will look at your current setup, show you what is being measured and what is invisible, and put a number on what the blind spots are costing you.
